Hi! Im Lyndsey, the proud owner and Head Coach at Hurricanes. I started out in the world of Ballet and Tap dancing at a mere 3 years old. I trained in these disciplines until the age of 11 obtaining numerous certificates in both styles. I was first introduced to Cheerleading when a coach was brought into my High School and instantly fell in love with the sport.

I was a competitive Cheerleader for 3 years and took on my first coaching role aged 14. For a further 3 years I was both a competitive athlete and coach. In 2015, aged just 18, I took the brave step to start offering Cheerleading classes in a local leisure centre and Hurricanes was born.

I am now a Level 6 qualified coach and Hurricanes is going from strength to strength having attended multiple Competitions with more to come in the future.

I have also completed a Mental Health in Sport course from UK Coaching in collaboration with Mind. This has ensured that I have the knowledge and skills to be able to adapt sessions to be fully inclusive as well as being equipped to be able to have conversations surrounding mental health and provide the information for the appropriate health services and charities.

My background is most definitely cemented in classical ballet and tap dancing which I enjoyed participating in for well over 25 years, taking part in numerous dance shows and pantomimes over the years.

When Lyndsey started cheer I was suddenly thrust into this crazy world they call ‘Cheerleading’ and I must say I was a little perplexed.  After attending a few competitions as a spectator I soon realised why Lyndsey had fallen for Cheer. Its not called ‘The Sport of Smiles’ for nothing!

Whilst helping Lyndsey to set up Hurricanes I did everything I possibly could to support her and have found that I too have now been seduced by the ‘Cheer Love’ seeing the children progress week on week at training is the most rewarding thing in the world, especially when they are doing it with the ‘BIGGEST’ smiles of their faces. Now a Level 6 Cheerleading coach myself I help Lyndsey run the classes and ensure all the admin is done behind the scenes ensuring Lyndsey has time to get her creative juices flowing prepping routines for competitions and showcases.

Hurricanes really is one big ‘Cheer Family’ and we look forward to welcoming you in.

I’ve been a dancer since I was 3 years old. Im trained under the I.D.T.A for Latin, Ballroom and freestyle.

I started competitive Cheerleading at School, I then went to move onto another cheer team after leaving school.

At the age of 18 I took a 10 year break from cheer as I worked as a show dancer and character actor on the holiday parks in the UK.

But after having my little boy a few years ago I thought it was time to do something for myself again and found my way back to cheer once again. Hello Hurricanes!!!

I’ve recently done my coaching levels in Cheerleading Skills and Stunt Skills and wanting to carry on with my training.

Bring on the next season!!!

Being Lyndsey’s little sister it was pretty clear that I would give Cheer a try.  I joined in with Lyndsey’s very first classes at the local leisure centre and then despite being only 11 I was invited to join Hurricanes Senior squad and competed with them at my first ever competition in May 2017.  Having caught the cheer bug, I started my coaching journey by completing my leadership award in September 2018, then followed this by completing my Level 2 qualification in January 2019.  My passion is the younger athletes and I love that they are so enthusiastic to learn new skills and build a strong foundation for their new journey into our sport.
